Autel IM508S PowerClass Guide for Audi Dashboard Replacement

If youd're using the Autel MaxiIM IM508S to replace a dashboard on an Audi A3 8P, you may have noticed that - besides the usual pins and CS - the tool also asks for something called PowerClass.

"Immettere la PowerClass del veicolo di destinazione (e necessaria una spaziatura zero per la cifra di ordine superiore di tipo 0X).

Enter the PowerClass of the destination vehicle (a zero space is required for the highest-order digit of type 0X)."

What is PowerClass?

PowerClass is a vehicle-specific identifier used in Audi immobilizer systems. It's part of the immobilizer data and is required during certain diagnostic or replacement procedures - like dashboard replacement - to ensure compatibility and proper system synchronization.

 

Where Can You Find the PowerClass?

According to Autel's technical support, the PowerClass value is stored in the vehicle's immobilizer data. You can read and view this information using the Autel IM508S by:

 

1. Reading the immobilizer data from the ECU or dashboard.

2. Parsing the data to locate the PowerClass value.

 

The IM508S will typically display this information once the immobilizer data is successfully read and decoded.

How to Enter the PowerClass Correctly

The note mentions that a "zero space" is required for the highest-order digit of type 0X.
This means that if the PowerClass value is a single digit (e.g., 5), you may need to enter it with a leading zero - like 05.

 

Example:

• If the PowerClass is 3, enter 03.
• If it's 12, enter 12 (no change needed).

 

This formatting ensures the system correctly recognizes the value.
