How to Add 2023 GMC Sierra Smart Key with Autel KM100 by OBD?

This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide on how to add a new smart key for the 2023 GMC Sierra using the Autel MaxiIM KM100 via OBD.

Preparation

Device: Autel KM100E.
Connection: It is highly recommended to use a USB cable to connect the VCI to the tablet to ensure a stable connection during the programming process.
Internet: Ensure the device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network as some functions require online data.

Programming Procedure

1. Vehicle Selection

Access the following menu on your Autel KM100:

IMMO -> GM -> Manual selection -> GMC -> Sierra -> 2020-2023 -> Smart Key Old Model -> Hot function -> Add Smart Key.

2. Read PIN Code

(1) When prompted to start PIN reading, select Yes.

(2) Press the vehicle Start/Stop button once.

(3) The device will read the PIN code (e.g., KRON). Please record this code for later use.

3. Key Learning Process

(1) Confirm you want to start the key learning process by selecting Yes.

(2) Press the Start/Stop button once.

(3) Place the new smart key into the vehicle's key slot and remove all other keys from the car.

Note: The key slot is typically located in the armrest box, under the bottle rack, or in the glove box.

(4) Input the 4-digit PIN code recorded earlier.

4. System Configuration

(1) Switch the ignition off and press the Start/Stop button once.

(2) Wait approximately 12 minutes for the system to complete configuration.

(3) Once the screen indicates the current key matching is complete, select No if you do not have additional keys to program.

5. Final Synchronization

(1) Switch the ignition off.

(2) Press and hold the Start/Stop button for 12 seconds, then release it.

(3) Long press the Start/Stop button again until the instrument cluster lights up to turn the ignition on.

(4) Switch the ignition off, then open and close the driver's door.

(5) Remove the smart key from the slot. Press the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously, then release both to synchronize the remote.

Completion

The device will display the final number of matched keys. Test the new smart key to ensure all remote and proximity functions are working correctly.
